Engineering?

The answer may vary from person to person. The common answer might be as “Engineering is where people solve technical problems and focus on making things work more efficiently and effectively and these people are known as engineers. They apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical and efficient solutions to technical problems. Their work is to link between observed social needs and commercial applications”.

You can hear these definitions from experienced Engineers but to enquire from the students doing engineering you might get some interesting facts. I want to elaborate some of the answers.
Some of my friends got selected in IITs and even spend their three important years but there answer is as:
· When I was preparing for the IIT-JEE I just wanted to crack JEE, even don’t knew the meaning of Engineering
· When I got selected I was confused about the Field to select.
· When I got the field and IIT and even spend my few important years here, even then My definition for Engineering is not yet clear as of my other colleagues

Few in other renowned Institutes across the country defines Engineering as
“To be engineer was our dream. Engineering is to generate innovative technical product but in Engineering till now we just got the theoretical knowledge that ‘how technology works’ but in reality we are not able to implement it in any innovate idea. Is this Engineering? ”.
They added more as “In the society we call our self proudly as an Engineer but truly we never hoped Engineering in this concept”.

If coming to some of the Fresher Engineers, Their definition for Engineering is as:
“HHHHmmmmmm about Engineering!”
“Engineering is to develop yourself in every concept of life.
During Engineering you just stress on the studies (Theoretical) and score a bit of good CP or percentage. But when your Engineering just finish and you meet the industry needs, society requirements of the technology to be produced, at that time complete Engineering seems to be Empty. Now we have to start again with the previous learning and the real world problems and now we learn how to tackle them and face them”.

Now come to some of the experienced professional Engineers
They define Engineering as:
“Engineering is to develop the new ideas and convert them into products which could be beneficial for the society and Industries. Engineers develop new materials that improve both the performance of products and take advantage of advancement in technology”.
The general opinion can be observed from the above all definitions as:“Engineering is the best way to create Ideas, Design them and convert them to products and to show technical things happening. For this an Engineer should have both theoretical as well as practical knowledge. So that in every step of life he should be updated with the Technology and could easily face the technical challenges”.
